Little John

This painting comes from memory—a portrait of a fellow artist and writer, someone whose path crossed mine in North Carolina and later again in Tucson, Arizona.

 

While in Arizona, John took on the look of what we might call a ‘desert rat’—a man who had found an environment he was comfortable with. At 16" x 20", this piece is more than a portrait; it’s a reflection of a life shaped by the land, of an artist who found his place in the quiet of the desert.
